How do numerical control machines work?

In CNC machines it is possible to distinguish between two broad categories of operation.

Automatic operation is that in which the machine performs its functions without any intervention by the operator. In this case the machine is made safe by adopting safety devices such as metal fences or protective barriers in plastic materials.

Semi-automatic operation Semi-automatic operation is that in which the machine performs its functions with the intervention of the operator in the loading, unloading and tool changing phases while it operates automatically for the rest of its functions. In semi-automatic operating mode then safety devices such as sensitive mats, bumpers, sensitive edges or vision devices come into play, protecting operators and all personnel involved in the production from any risk of injury.
